Christianity

In Christian beliefs, a saint is a person who is recognized as especially holy or close to God.

The use of the word “saint” depends on context. In Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Oriental Orthodox, and Lutheran teachings, everyone is Heaven is a saint, but some people are worthy of even more honour. The church gives official recognition to some saints. This is called “canonization” in the Catholic Church or “glorification” in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
