Following on Ofsted's RE report, the Religious Education Council has proposed a RE curriculum framework which could be used as a "national benchmark" for RE. The report also highlighted the need for improved teacher training in subject delivery. Our Learning Resource and Teacher Guidance is already well aligned to these proposals

In a recent report (Religious education: realising the potential, Oct 2013) Ofsted highlighted that RE was being isolated from the rest of the curriculum leading to missed opportunities to support pupil’s learning more widely. Introducing The Challenge

Phase One – RE Independent Research (3a, 3b, 1g) - This activity introduces the Challenge through Professor Khalili’s video and letter. It also provides the opportunity for vocabulary development through identifying the Key Words of The Challenge.

Let’s Peace Together Our World

Phase One – Art and Design – This activity helps pupils explore the meaning/play on words of Lets Peace Together our World.

Seeing Things Differently

Phase One – PSHCE (Why People Do Not Always Agree?) – This activity supports pupils’ thinking around seeing things from another perspective/viewpoint. Using mirrors and lenses pupils can explore how they can see the same things differently.

Lemons Activity

Phase One – PSHCE – This activity introduces the ideas of similarities, differences and valuing uniqueness through the identification of lemons while providing the opportunity to examine the concept of stereotypes.

Collective Memory

Phase One – RE Independent Research (1c)- This activity is a Thinking Skills strategy that can be used to present pupils with the ‘basics’ of the three Abrahamic faiths while providing an opportunity to plan, review and evaluate their actions.

What do we Already Know?

Phase One – RE Independent Research (1a, 1b, 1c)- This activity provides the opportunity for Pupils to explore and discuss what they already know about The Three Abrahamic Faiths. It also provides support for Teachers in dealing with difficult issues.
