A creed is a statement of belief or faith. The word comes from the Latin “credo” for “I believe”.
The earliest Christian creed is The Apostles’ Creed (pictured). This statement emphasizes the birth, physical death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Today, the Nicene Creed is the most widespread Christian statement of faith. It builds on The Apostles’ Creed, adding much more elaborate statements.
