Laylat al-Qadr of Lailat al-Qadr (Night of Power; also called Night of Destiny, Night of Decree, Night of Determination, or the Precious Night), is the night when God revealed the first verses of the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad through the angel Jibrīl.

It is one of the most important and holiest nights of the year. It is celebrated during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

In some communities, Muslims come together and stay awake all night praying and reading the Qur’an. This photograph shows a celebration of Laylat al-Qadr in Isfahan, Iran.

Some also take this as a time to give charity and express gratitude.
