Saint Peter, also called Simon Peter, was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus.
Many of the Gospels talk about him. Most of what we know about Peter comes from the Bible.
“Peter” comes from the Greek word for “rock”. The Gospels say that Jesus chose Peter to be the “rock” (foundation) of the Church.
