The Prophets of Allah mentioned in the Qur’an. English versions of the names are given with Quranic versions of the names in brackets where they apply.

Muhammad or Mohammed was an Arab religious, social, and political leader. He is best known as the founder of Islam. He lived in what is now Saudi Arabia in the 6th to 7th century CE.

According to Islamic teaching, Allah revealed the Qur’an to Muhammad via the angel Jibril. Muhammad then went on to preach Islam and found the Muslim community (ummah).

He is believed to be the Seal of the Prophets. This means that there were prophets before Muhammad (like Abraham and Jesus, shown in the above chart), but there will not be any more prophets after him.

The Qur’an and Muhammad’s teachings and practices are the foundation of Islamic life. For many Muslims, Muhammad is a moral example. He is an example of how to live a good and ethical life. They do not only follow his advice but try to live life as he did.
