Gospel originally referred to the Christian message (“the gospel”).
The Gospel message was originally spoken, not written. Once the message was written down, Gospel became used for the books in which the message was written. There are four main Gospels in the Christian Bible (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).
The Gospels are about Jesus Christ’s life and teaching. They invite people to believe that Jesus was born to save the world from sin and make humans get to know God. They also include the Death and Resurrection of Jesus.
