The Passover Seder is a ritual meal at the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Pesach (Passover).

Seder means “order”. This is because the meal proceeds in a certain order that takes participants from slavery to freedom.

The Haggadah is used to guide the Seder. There are many different versions of the Haggadah and different Seder traditions.

Some common elements includes retelling the story of the Exodus, eating matzah, explaining the items on the Seder plate, drinking wine, singing, praying, and storytelling. Many Seders involve about 15 steps.

Some communities also observe a Rosh Hashanah Seder. Like the Passover Seder, it involves eating symbolic foods, drinking wine, praying, singing, and storytelling.
